NGC6995 – Eastern Veil Nebula (Bat Nebula)

NGC6995 is a region of the Cygnus supernova remnant, located about 2,400 light-years away. Its structure is made up of filaments of gas heated and ionized by the passage of an expanding shock wave. Emission is particularly strong in Oxygen III and Hydrogen alpha, lines that help reveal the shock fronts, cooling regions, and density variations in the interstellar medium.
