NGC6883 – Open Cluster (SHO)

At the centre of the image lies NGC6883, a young open star cluster in the constellation Cygnus. It has an apparent angular size of about 35 arcminutes, a visual magnitude of +8.0 and is approximately 4,500 light-years away. It contains around one hundred stars, many of them hot spectral-type B stars. The photographed field also shows the region's extensive emission nebulosity and the distinctive bubble associated with the Wolf-Rayet star WR134, rendered as a narrowband SHO-palette composition.
